US road trip 07

Day 15 - saturday 24th of march - Flagstaff - Las Vegas (348mls /5h)

Today we left at 11.30 am. We took the historic road 66! It was realy nice with some typical villages... We decided to belong on this road to do the best part, between Seligman and Oatman. We met some Harley Davidson's bikers and took a beer with them.They give us some advices for the california. It's gonna be really helpfull. The weather was changing aswell, at 6 pm, it was sunny, 80°F! Tonight we gonna pick up Cath (the girl who joins us for a part of the trip) in Las Vegas. It's really expensive on a saturday and most of the motel are full, but we don't really have the choice... We gonna sleep in the starlite motel (115$/3)

Jour 15 - samedi 24 mars - Flagstaff - Las Vegas (557kms/5h)

météo: Flagstaff - nuageux - 10,5°C

Aujourd'hui, on est parti à 11h30. On a emprunté l'historique route 66! Cétait vraiment sympa avec quelques villages typiques... On a décidé de continuer sur cette route pour faire la plus belle partie, entre Seligman et Oatman. Nous avons rencontré des motards en Harley Davindson et avons pris une bière avec eux. Ils nous ont donné quelques conseils pour la californie. 9a va nous être bien utile. Le temps a changé aussi, à 18h, il y avait du soleil et 27,5°C! Ce soir, nous allons chercher Cath (la fille qui nous rejoint pour faire une partie du voyage avec nous) à Las Vegas. C'est hors prix un samedi et la plupart des hôtels sont complets mais on a pas trop le choix. On va finalement dormir au starlite motel (85 euros/3)

Day 16 - Sunday 25th of march - Las Vegas

weather: Las Vegas - sunny - 80°

We left the hotel at 11 am. We have searched another hotel for the two next nights. We found the super 8 motel at one block of the strip (135$ for the two nights). It's the world largest super 8 motel. Then we relaxed a bit at the swimming pool of the hotel and visited a bit the strip. At 9 pm, we went to the Fremont experience. It was amazing, it's the most impressive thing we have seen from the beginning of our trip. There is a big screen doing all the street. Every hour (from 8 pm to 12 pm), during 6 minuts, they switch off all the light of the street and do a light-and-sound show on the screen. There is no word to describe it, it's magical... Then we returned to the strip which is realy impressive aswell with all those fabulous hotels. We found a nightclub (the rock house) and finished the night at the casino.

Jour 16 - dimanche 25 mars - Las Vagas

météo: Las Vegas - ensoleillé - 28°

On a quitté l'hôtel à 11h. On a cherché un hôtel pour les deux prochaines nuits. On a trouvé le super 8 motel, à un block du strip (105 eur pour les deux nuits). C'est le plus gros super 8 motel du monde. Après, nous nous sommes relaxés à la piscine de l'hôtel et avons visité un peu le strip. A 21h, on est allé à Fremont experience. C'était époustouflant, c'est la meilleure chose qui nous a été donné de voir depuis le début de notre voyage. Il y a un écran géant qui fait toute la rue. Toutes les heures (de 20h à 24h), pendant 6 min, ils font un show son et lumière sur l'écran. Il n'y a pas de mot pour le décrire, c'est magique... Ensuite, nous sommes retournés au strip, avons trouvé une discothèque (le rock house) puis fini la nuit au casino.

Day 17 - Monday 26 th of March - Las Vegas

Weather: Las Vegas - sunny - 70 F

We are loosing a lot of time here. las Vegas lives 24 hours on 24. As "breakfast", we took a steak at the hotel for $5 and it was nice. Then we went back to the STRIP, visited the famous hostels like the Bellagio, Flamingo, MGM, Paris and New York where we found a coyote bar with girls on the bar givind shots of alcohol. Then we returned one hour in Fremont Street to take the picture of the day. And we finished the night at the Pussycat Dolls, the nightclub of the Caesar Palace. After 2 days in Vegas, we would love to stay more but we still have a long journey. At our eyes, it's the americain's best city. It's an artificial and unreal town, you are in another world. Las Vegas, we will be back.


Jour 17 - Lundi 26 mars - Las Vegas

Meteo: Las Vegas- ensoleille - 22 C

On perd la notion du temps ici. Las Vegas vit 24 heures sur 24. Comme "petit dejeuner", on a pris un steak a l'hotel pour $5. Et vraiment tres bon.Ensuite nous sommes retournes dans le STRIP pour visiter les hotels comme Flamingo, Bellagio, Paris, MGM et New York. On a decouvert un bar coyote, le meme que dans les films, avec des filles sur le bar donnant des shots d'alcool. On a termine la nuit a la grande discotheque Le Pussycat Dolls au Caesar Palace. Apres deux jours a Las Vegas, on aurait aime y rester un peu plus longtemps, mais nous avons encore un long trajet a faire. A nos yeux, c'est une des meilleures villes des Etats Unis d'Amerique. Tout parait artificiel et de cire, en effet les decors et moulures des batiments sont realises en fibre de verre...C'est un autre monde...Las Vegas, on reviendra.

Day 18 - Monday 27 th of March

Today we left Las Vegas at 10h30 in direction of Death Valley. We can appreciate a complete change of landscape. On the road, Death Valley is a desert composed by differents forms of mountains and differents colours. It was very impressive because a lot of sand on the road, deposed by the wing. These region of the United State is recognized by the very hard weathers conditions, that's why these area was called Death Valley.We wanted to visit the Sequoia National Park as well but the weathers conditions were so bad on the road (too much snow) and we had to give up. And by the other way it was too long to do it today, thus we decided to forget about it and find a motel close to Yosemite Park for tomorrow. We stayed at the University Inn ($ 48).

Jour 18 - Lundi 27 mars

Meteo : ensoleille - 16 C

Aujourd'hui, nous sommes partis vers 10h30 en direction de la Death Valley. Nous avons note rapidement le changement de paysages et de temperatures. En effet, sur la route des paysages composes de dunes de sables et de roches volcaniques de differentes couleurs, et surtout d'un relief sans precedent. Cette Death Valley est bien reconnue pour ses climats arrides et pouvant changer tres rapidement...C'est d'ailleurs pour cela qu'elle porte ce nom.
Nous souhaitions visiter le Sequoia National Park, seulement les conditions de circulation etaient tellement mauvaises ( tempetes de neiges sur la route) que nous avons du rebrousser chemin et abandonner la visite du Sequoia National Park. Nous aurions pu contourner par une route alternative, mais cela nous aurait pris trop de temps. Alors, nous avons decide de nous diriger vers un motel a proximite du Yosemite National Park. Nous avons sejourne au University Inn Motel ($ 48 pour la nuit)

Wednesday 28 th of march - Fresno - San Francisco (290 mls - 7 h)

weather: Fresno - sunny - 56 C

Today, visit of the Yosemite National Park. The landscapes are still changing. A lot of greenery and mountains with waterfalls. We stop there a bit to walk around the park. We saw some animals like deers, eagles,... It was nice. We have had some big changes of temperature today, from 34 F to 68 F. Then we took the road back at 5 pm to get in San Francisco at 8 pm. We will stay there two days and cut some days later. We passed the night at the Capri motel (79 $)

Mercredi 28 mars - Fresno - San Francisco (466 kms / 7h)

meteo: Fresno - ensoleille - 14.5 C

Aujourd`hui, visit du Park national Yosemite. Les paysages varient toujours. Beaucoup de verdure et montagne avec des chutes d eau. On s est un peu promener dans le parc et avons vu des biches, aigles,... C etait sympa. On a eu quelques gros changements de temperature aujourd hui allant de 1 C a 14 C. Ensuite on a repris la route a 17 h pour ralleir San Francisco a 20h. On y restera deux jours et rattrapera ces jours de retard plus tard. On a passe la nuit au motel Capri (60 eur)
